Sporting spot from UFO team The Holograms

UFO's The Holograms have just finished a new film with New York Agency BBDO. The project which was for the international charity network Special Olympics will be screened on air on US Television in the coming months. 

The project, which has been on going for a year, depicts a skeleton basketball player as he makes his way up a basketball court. The Holograms designed the motion effects on the skeleton to slowly reveal that he is in fact a Special Olympiad. Live action was shot using Red Camera, the motion effects were created in house at Mathematic using Maya with additional comping finished in After FX and Flame.

 Here are a few research boards and work in progress designs that helped to show the development of the film.

We were able to reference the 3D animatic that we created to shoot the live action players. From this footage we began to work out another animatic for the transtions needed to take place within the film. Eventhough the first plan is made entirely of 3D we shot this as a reference anyway.
