Parents With Superpowers for GDF SUEZ

Mathematic have just finished work on the GDF SUEZ Campaign with French Director Edouard Deluc. In the TV commercials we are introduced to different children who look up to their parents as Superheros. Below are all the four films as well as some extra behind the scenes information from Mathematic.

Films Zen and Energy will be on broadcast later in the year.

Mathematic was commissioned to work on the post for each of the films, including creating the 3D flying capes on the adults at the end and the alternative introductions of the children. We helped wth the preproduction planning and supervised on the shoot in Greece.

We created the superman style capes using 'Clothes' plugin in Maya. Afterwards we tested the various speeds and movements of the capes until everyone was satisfied with the integration.

For the intros we also needed to design a way to integrate each of the alternative beginnings to work with the live action. We used a blend of 3D Maya and particle animation, matte painting effects and After FX to develop each of the intros.

We designed and built the space satellite in 3D Maya, the rest of this space scene was matte painted from photo references.

Intro Tests Iceberg

Iceberg was created by blending matte painted icebergs with lighting effects created in After FX.


Sun Stillframe

The sun was created using Particles in 3D, rendered specifically for its lighting and fire effect.
