    Mihai Grecu's short 'Centipede Sun'

    February 23rd, 2010

After discovering the Altiplano region in Chile, Mihai Grecu, the director of 'Centipede Sun', came up with the idea to create this beautifully atmospheric film. Funded by La Bourse de la Scam, the project was produced with the help of Mathematic Studios and Arcadi. A symbol of isolation and the effects of Global Warming on the climate, the films inspiration was due to the sublime Chilean landscape as well as the country's complex spiritual background.

"The film represents a the landscape as a self-sufficient being and how this is in part is being destroyed. The surrealistic transformations become a logical extension of the magnificent strangeness of the landscapes. These places known for the absence of any form of life within huge distances undergo a symbolic metamorphosis that provides them an internal abstract form of life. It is a geographical, mineral, colossal kind of life, based on elements which are extremely inhospitable to biological existence."

Post effects were created in house at Mathematic using 3D Maya, After FX and real flow.

    Director: Mihai Grecu
    Music: Herman Kolgen
    DoP: Enrique Ramirez
    Editor: Momoko Seto
